About

“If I could save time in a bottle/ the first thing that I’d like to do/ is to save everyday ‘till eternity passes away/ just to spend them with you” – Jim Croce

My name is Christine Hunsberger and in my life, I focus on those ordinary little experiences that bring me joy. I transform these tiny moments in a bottle into songs.

My first musical memory was my older brother teaching me how to read music. We’d sit at our mother’s electric organ and he’d show me which notes correspond to the treble clef lines “every good boy deserves fudge”. One day when I was looking out the window, I noticed a beautiful bluebird. I sat down at the organ, played random notes and sang about that bluebird. I must have been 6 or 7 years old at the time, and I’m sure the piece was completely incoherent, but this remains how I begin my creative process today.

My life inspires my music. My song “Still You Stay (Days Like These)” was inspired by the 60 seconds I got to give my boyfriend (at the time) a hug in the elevator during my busiest day of the week. I began writing with this tiny experience in mind. I start to play a few notes on the piano, and sing related words or phrases over them. I stretch those into lyrics, and write them down. When I have a solid draft, I punch my piano track into Logic and sing over it. Then I build the arrangement of the song, beginning with the rhythm section. I compose, arrange, and produce as I go. The result for this song was a happy, upbeat tune about being a klutz and having someone who loves you anyway.

My favorite moments are the ordinary ones I share with others, and that’s why love and companionship are major themes in my music. I hope that my music reminds others of the joys in little things. No matter where I go or who I’m with, I’ll always be drawn to experiencing that slice of life.
